Elon Musk presented a prototype humanoid robot Optimus at the Tesla 2022 AI Day presentation.

Judging by the short video, the robot can carry a box, water flowers and fold parts. But according to the Mask, he can do much more.

At the beginning of the presentation, the first prototype arrived, which can move independently and wave its arms. In addition, it was the first time the robot moved completely autonomously (in the demonstration videos to the Optimum connected by cable).

A few minutes later rolled out another prototype. He could no longer do anything himself, so he was fixed on the platform, and the assistants waved the robot’s arms. Musk stated that this version had all drives and a battery, but “wasn’t quite ready to go.”

The first prototype has been developed for the last six months. A fully working prototype in the new project is planned “to be done within the next few months or years.”

The robot with a battery capacity of 2.3 kWh, runs on its own Tesla chip and has Wi-Fi and LTE. The Tesla Autopilot software used in the company’s vehicles has been reconfigured to work in the new environment.

Musk first announced a humanoid robot last year. Both of today’s prototypes pointed very strongly to the version that was shown a year ago.

The robot had a humanoid design, which attracted the audience. The new prototypes are more like classic robots. [The Verge]
