Apple could use Thailand’s MacBook production to diversify its supply chain, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said.

He also added that Apple plans to increase U.S. shipments from non-Chinese factories over the next 3-5 years.

Currently, all MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are assembled in China. Quanta Computer, which manufactures MacBooks in China, has been renewing itself in Thailand for the past few years.

Manufacturing diversification helps Apple avoid major risks, including US rates on Chinese imports.
