Digital wallet and online payment platform PayPal came to the public to explain it does not intend to punish its users. post disinformation. The need for clarification arises after a post on the page says it will do it.
PayPal recently updated its usage policies, adding a ban on using the platform to “post, post or post any message, content or material that promotes disinformation.” With the ban came the threat of violating this policy. Can be fined up to $2,500.

The change in PayPal’s policies began to come to the fore, especially after David Marcus’ comments on Twitter criticizing this change. Marcus is now the CEO of Lightspark, but was once president of PayPal.
Now the platform claims that the policy change was published in error with “false information”. PayPal has already taken the changes offline and says their team is working on fixing their usage policy pages. Representatives of the site also apologize for the confusion this has caused.
It is unclear at this stage whether there will be any penalties other than fines for using the platform to spread disinformation.
