A new blog post for Android developers reveals promised changes to Android Google Play Store on big screens Come early next year. The company highlights innovations and, above all, how the new layout should help promote apps and encourage their installation.

The new Play Store layout applies to: tablets, foldable phones, and Chromebooks. After the update, which has no specific date yet, the store will make better use of the larger screen space and will show the descriptions and screenshots of the apps directly on the home screen.

“As users increasingly invest in connected devices such as tablets, smartwatches and TVs beyond mobile phones, it is more important than ever to build your app assets for each (display) format. In fact, the number of Active non-Mobile Android devices has increased by about approx. It has increased by 30%.” – announces Google in the blog post for developers.

Emphasizing that the new look of the Play Store for large screens will come in early 2023, the company also states that the Chromebook will now support 16:9 screenshots. Developers will be able to use up to eight images in this format to promote their apps on Chrome OS devices.
