Experts from RTings conducted a second test of noise reduction a year after the first test of AirPods Max and concluded that the latest firmware worsened the performance.
After updating to version 4E71, their Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system began to block slightly less body noise from medium to high bass levels. It is noted that they began to run loud sounds, like bus engines.
It is also reported that the noise reduction began to slightly “press” on the ears. You can experience a similar feeling when taking off in an airplane.
This is because your brain perceives the absence of low frequency sound as pressure between the inner and outer ear. However, when ANC is inactive, there are usually no problems. [RTings]
