Codec Avatars*, realistic holograms designed to interact with AR, are “an essential part of the future” that Meta* envisions. While the Orion*, which reportedly costs $10,000 per prototype, isn’t expected to be released anytime soon, these avatars are likely to appear in VR in the near future.

Mark Rabkin, Meta Vice Presidentby Horizon OS and Quest* said Codec* avatars originally created using a camera scan can now be created using the phone, simplifying the process. The ultimate goal is to integrate these realistic avatars into Meta* VR headsets.
