Julius Frankenbach, a doctoral student in psychology at Saarland University in Saarbrücken (Germany), and colleagues analyzed more than 200 studies on sexual desire. It turns out that men are constantly talking about a stronger sex drive. They also spend much more time thinking and daydreaming about sex than women wanting to have sex and masturbating.
Surprisingly, these results were the same across countries, age groups, ethnic groups, and different sexual orientations.
But there is also a “but”. It’s impossible to say exactly how honest people are when discussing their sexual orientation. Sexuality in general is a very sensitive subject.
Also, for example, between 24 and 29% of women have a stronger sex drive than the average man. Scientists have talked about it too.
In itself, sexual desire is associated with a complex interaction of a number of factors. These are social norms, roles, education on the one hand, and genetics, physiology, biology on the other.
