We know Porsche cars as some of the most expensive and luxurious. And I know that they should not drive over potholes and off-road. But the company’s engineers are of a different opinion – they have strengthened a couple of their supercars to conquer the highest level in the world of the Ojos del Salado volcano in Chile. Until the finish line, I was not completely sure that they did not know how to conquer a height of 6000 meters.

As a rule, this place attracts other car companies for similar “strength tests”. So, in 2017, Honda tested its car, the German Mercedes-Benz tested a truck here. Sedet to note that in many respects the area is ideal for these purposes – it’s cold, air xrr And yet, in sudden cases, it was about road machinery, and the Porsche 911 is a land road car.

To get the maximum chance of success, the engineers went to a variety of tricks. These are racing seat belts and increased suspension, new gearboxes with known gear ratios, differential locks and winches, a modified steering system and effective underbody protection using aramid fiber, a strong and rigid body, a new efficient cooling system – and, of course, more powerful off-road tires designed for mountain driving.

All this contributed to achieving the achievement – the supercar not only reached a height of 6000 meters above sea level, but also “felt” very good on it. Its engine, a standard motor that did not present itself to be improved, performed perfectly, working in -30 degrees Celsius frost and rarefaction, when the oxygen in the ocean is half as much as in normal conditions. Now the owners of these cars can be proud that they drive a supercar that can conquer!
