Many people know the legendary Porsche 911, a premium sports car. But few people know that the company also has a successful history of creating SUVs based on the 911. And, we must pay tribute to the company’s engineers – they achieved impressive results. Enough calculation in 1984 at the Dakar Rally or the recent “climb” on the highest volcano of the Earth. Now, Porsche has decided to change the course of things by launching mass production of the 911 Dakar SUV.

The car was presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It seems incredible – but the model is really a real SUV. Experts can become critics – in some respects, it falls short of the top off-road equipment. However, there are plenty of differences from other versions of the 911. This, for example, is an upgraded suspension that allows you to increase the speed of the event. It is worth noting the specially designed Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires, which find that the car will go where the driver wants to go, regardless of the condition of the ground.

The new 911 Dakar propels itself through rocks and slush with a 3.0-liter engine working in tandem with an eight-speed PDK and all-wheel drive. With this power plant, it develops a power of 473 hp. and provides torque up to 570 Nm. Despite the on-road off-road accents, the car is able to accelerate from standstill to 100 km / h against 3.4 seconds. But, of course – on the paved road. The maximum speed reaches 240 km/h. Also worth mentioning is one about Off-Road and Rally modes, app-activated buttons, new steering tools and driver assistance sources. The company will release the 911 Dakar with a run of 2,500 copies. You can buy it this spring at a price of $223,450 at US dealerships.
