The Roskomnadzor structure proposed to force the gaming industry to comply with the requirements of the “Yarovaya package”

This is reported by a study by the GRCHT, to which Kommersant refers. It proposes new rules to regulate the gaming industry and related areas.

• The agency wants to give legal status to in-game currency: in-game virtual currency that can be purchased with real money, loot boxes, virtual boxes with a random set of items, streaming platforms and donations, donations to the streamer of the viewers.
• The GRFC also proposed recognizing gaming platforms and streaming services for players as information dissemination organizers (ARIs). In accordance with the law “On Information”, PIOs are required to store in Russia the data of receipt, transmission, delivery and processing of information of voice, text, image and other electronic messages of users, as well as share this data with the investigating authorities upon request.

To do this, sites must install Search Operational Equipment (SORM) on their networks. Thus, we are talking about expanding the requirements of the “Yarovaya Law” to gaming and streaming services.

The GRFC is confident that the proposed measures “will ensure adequate control against criminals distributing illegal information using gaming and streaming platforms,” ​​as well as restrict “minors from harmful content and increase the effectiveness of protecting citizens in the circulation of property in the game”. and currency.”

Market participants interviewed by the newspaper believe that its implementation will require new investment in infrastructure and pose risks for game publishers. One of Kommersant’s sources also believes that the department is concerned “mainly with the issue of control over the financial flows of the gaming industry.”
