British Lush’s Russian partner Dmitry Azarov will launch a new cosmetics network under the Oomph brand instead, RBC reports, citing Azarov.
The new chain will also focus on the sale of handmade cosmetics. The first stores will open in early December in the seven locations previously occupied by Lush.
The former Lush flagship store on Tverskaya street will receive a new concept: in addition to the shopping area, it will also house a cafe. The menu will consist mainly of pastries.
Under the new brand, about a hundred items will first be produced: soap, shampoos, shower gels, candles. Oomph’s products will be manufactured at its own factory in Domodedovo.
The operational management of the new brand will be carried out by List LLC, which was established by Azarov in August 2022. He estimated investments in the new project at 100 million rubles, the businessman uses his own funds.
Lush has been working on the Russian market for more than 20 years. In the Russian business, “Lash Russia”, Lush owned 35%, the rest belonged to Azarov. He was also responsible for the British retailer’s business in Ukraine. At the beginning of 2022, the chain had 48 stores in Russia and 16 in Ukraine.
In the context of a special operation in Ukraine at the beginning of March, the British manufacturer stopped deliveries of products to Russia and later canceled its participation in the company of the Russian licensee.
