Comparing two generations of embedded devices in gaming: Ryzen 5 6600U (Radeon 660M) and Ryzen 5 5500U (Vega 7)

PC Support and Gaming Testers tested laptops with integrated Vega 7 and Radeon 660M graphics in eight modern games at 1080p. Including games Grand Theft Auto V, Watch Dogs: Legion, Far Cry 6, Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

HORSE Grand Theft Auto V Average performance with the Normal preset was 80.5fps with the Radeon 660M and 50fps with the Vega 7.

Watch Dogs: Legion Run it on low graphics settings. With the Radeon 660M we managed to get an average of 24fps, Vega 7 – 20fps.

Distant Cry 6 it also started with a low preset. Average FPS here were 24.5 fps (Radeon 660M) and 20.5 fps (Vega 7).

HORSE Red Dead Redemption 2 managed to average 26fps and 20fps at low settings (Radeon 660M and Vega 7)

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla It started with a low preset. Average FPS in this game was 26 fps (with Radeon 660M) and 22 fps (with Vega 7).

HORSE The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Average frame rates were 28.5fps and 25fps at medium settings (Radeon 660M and Vega 7, respectively).

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Run it with low graphics settings. Average performance for this game was 29fps with the Radeon 660M and 23fps with the Vega 7.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey run it on low settings. The average frame rate in this case was 30fps (Radeon 660M) and 22.5fps (Vega 7).

In all eight games, the Ryzen 5 6600U (Radeon 660M) outperformed the Ryzen 5 5500U (Vega 7). In this case the difference is on average 34% (33.5 fps vs 25 fps).
