Uppsala University’s Dr. Melanie While said DePalma fabricated the data for inference. She made a formal complaint to the University of Manchester.

DePalma published her paper in Scientific Reports in December 2021, a few months before Duhring’s paper was published in Nature. Both articles claimed that the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago crashed into Earth in the spring. Both authors studied fossils and rocks from North Dakota. But DePalm’s article revealed “data problems.” There were just meaningless graphics. The scientist denies all accusations against him.
