Although the battery motor is more expensive than the conventional motor, the operating costs are lower. Analysts say total cost of ownership is a key factor that could drive widespread adoption of battery-powered vehicles.
In other words, the cost of a standard family car like the Ford Kuga and its electric counterpart, the Škoda Enyaq, were equal. In some countries the electric car was even cheaper. The cost of charging an electric car today is about 15% of the cost of owning and operating, and the cost of refueling a diesel car is about 28%.
