Huawei will close divisions of corporate sales of data storage systems and telecommunications equipment in Russia, Kommersant writes.
The office is scheduled to close on January 1, 2023. It employs about 2,000 people who can voluntarily resign or transfer to the CIS countries.
The source of the publication said that most of the members are leaving the branch, but Huawei retains the office. The company will be ready to resume operations when the conflict in Ukraine ends.
Huawei also keeps the centers of development of perspective technologies located in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Novosibirsk in Russia.
Huawei’s decision is associated with risks of secondary cases, as the equipment may be in the public sector. However, Huawei equipment continues to operate in Russia, its support and maintenance is occupied by domestic distributors who will hire laid-off specialists. [Коммерсантъ]
