Last Monday (20), the conversations of several ChatGPT accounts with the bot were leaked due to a bug. While trying to access their interaction history, many users reported seeing other people’s message threads.
After identifying the problem, some profiles shared catch-ups on Twitter and Reddit reporting what was going on. OpenAI acknowledged the problem and stated: already fixed the bug, but before, again, related question platform vulnerabilities.
ChatGPT shows me history and conversations that are not mine. Obviously an accident/mistake but a good reminder that you shouldn’t send something you wouldn’t send to a stranger. One day the whole DB will leak or the AI will remember and leak some details from the training detail set. pic.twitter.com/eVAaJ9vtcR

The content of the conversations could not be accessed
According to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, the error was only showing the title of the conversations from other users, not being able to see the content of the interaction. However, it is unclear whether other UI elements suffer from a similar glitch.
Unfortunately, users will not be able to access their chat history from Monday 1:00 PM to Monday 10:00 PM PDT.
We will follow up with a technical autopsy.

Altaman, without going into details, simply stated that the error would be related to one of the open source libraries. OpenAI has already released a fix patch, but this has caused conversations from the past 20 days to disappear.
The bot’s developer will post a future note with technical details on what caused the error and should also contact if other sensitive data is accidentally disclosed.
