An exercise from VNIIEF, posing as Rosatom, offered a rather interesting idea for defense against homing missiles. For this reason, the description was disclosed under the name of the Russian “Rospatent”.

To be more precise, VNIIEF engineers proposed to take responsibility for the aircraft, the so-called false target – successive successive balls with significant surface metallization.

At the same time, due to the selected number of balls, the required diameters and the coverage of the section of cables between the balls, the false target for readiness looks like an aircraft with a higher ESR value (effective dispersion area).

It is assumed that a special compartment is provided for such a protection design in the aircraft, from which it will be quickly released in the most convenient conditions in terms of the presence of air defense zones.

During a future flight, a false target is towed at a distance simulating an aircraft and “confusing” both homing missiles and radar systems air defense.
