The telecommunications giant of the three main Russian operators, MTS, at the end of the year brought the tower business into a separate structure.
The former head of First Tower Company (MegaFon’s tower business), Alexander Teremetsky, has been appointed CEO of Tower Infrastructure Company (BIC) LLC, reports TASS.
The corresponding registration in the reorganization was made in the Unified State Registry of Legal Entities on December 16. The declared authorized capital of BIK is 25 million rubles.
The MTS press service confirms the data on the changes in the company and the completion of the removal of the “towers” in a separate legal entity.
For the first time, MTS began to talk about the revision of the strategy for the commercial development of towers and their possible separation into a separate structure at the end of 2021.
At the beginning of 2022 it was said that all the paperwork would be ready in March, but then the media reported that MTS was considering selling that address.
Kommersant wrote in April that the operator’s representatives “continue to consider various scenarios, see interest in the asset and communicate with potential investors.”
Today the company has 23 thousand towers, which are estimated at about 100 billion rubles.
