The University of New South Wales (UNSW) Natural Resources-built Sunswift 7 offshore electric vehicle has set the world record for its class, traveling 1,000 km on a single charge in less than 12 hours at speeds in excess of 80 km/h.

See Sunswift 7 – only half a ton. For comparison, the weight of a Tesla electric car is from 1900 to 2180 kg. For this, some devices had to be sacrificed, including air conditioning, ABS and airbags.

After their offspring “got sick”, the developers focused on the record-breaking electric car, it was 0.095 (for comparison, the same Tesla had 0.208).

Not a record high level of energy. According to project manager Richard Hopkins, an electric car spent about 4 kWh to overcome 100 km, while this figure is 4 times higher for the most advanced representatives.

Passes Sunswift 7 record specs.
