Players go to court to demand that the agreement between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard be prohibited

American video game users filed a lawsuit in California to block a deal in which Microsoft bought video game maker Activision Blizzard, writes Reuters.

The plaintiffs believe that buying the still-independent game maker would give Microsoft more power in the industry, allow it to restrict video game releases, raise prices arbitrarily, and generally disrupt competition in the marketplace.

Earlier, the US antitrust regulator, the Federal Trade Commission, asked to block the deal. The agency wants to prevent Microsoft from gaining control of the independent studio so that the gaming markets are not affected.
