Nutritionists also listed foods to avoid during the holidays.

  1. cranberry sauce. Although it is very tasty, the sugar content is also quite high. One serving contains 22 g of sugar, and experts recommend eating 25 g or less of sugar per day. Just take a spoonful of this sauce and eat it with ham or turkey. Or make your own sauce.

  2. cracker. They are considered fast digestible sources of carbohydrates. This means that your blood sugar will rise quickly and you will feel hungry again very soon. Nutritionist Lisa Andrews recommends replacing crackers with nuts or seeds.

  3. Candy. They mostly consist of added sugar and can raise your blood sugar very quickly. And they’re low in nutrients, so you get hungry again very quickly.

  4. bourbon balls. It is prepared from powdered sugar, butter, bourbon. Therefore, high blood sugar levels will persist for quite some time, especially if such balls are eaten on an empty stomach. If you still like this delicacy, take it after the main meal.

  1. Sweet Potato Casserole. These potatoes are already sweet, and with brown sugar, marshmallows, molasses in a casserole, they can raise blood sugar even more. If you can’t live without this dish, have it for dessert after the main meal.

  2. cooking for breakfast. A recent study found that a high-protein breakfast helps regulate appetite and food cravings throughout the day. Instead of baking with a lot of sugar, eat whole grains in the morning: oatmeal with berries and nuts, pancakes or whole grain muffins. Adding regular yogurt, nut butters, or hard-boiled eggs will also prevent high blood sugar levels.

  3. Pie. These treats are always high in calories and sugar. If you still want to eat the pastry, add it to the main meal as a dessert.
