The platform for the blind “Robin Online”, which will help users with vision problems to navigate, will be operational in the spring of 2023, the press service of the National Technology Initiative (NTI) told TASS.
The service will allow you to search for text, read QR codes and price tags in stores. The platform is capable of identifying objects and, if necessary, will help to urgently contact relatives or volunteers.
The creation of the NTI was carried out by the ANO Laboratory “Sensor-Tech” and the NTI market participant “Neuronet”. As explained in the NTI, the development has successfully passed all the tests. To use the platform on Android and iOS, special software has been developed.
“The authors have provided in it [платформе] features that allow the system to recognize and read text aloud when you point your phone at signs, price tags. The development recognizes various types of documents and uses a dictionary to autocorrect incomprehensible words. Visually impaired users can also identify objects around them, find out the denomination of the banknotes,” said NTI.
Also, the developers added the ability to contact the volunteer call center, where the user will be helped to navigate in an unknown place or determine the freshness of the product in the store before the expiration date. The volunteer is supposed to, if necessary, connect to a blind person’s phone via video link.
