Since the end of 2022, Toyota has restored the direct supply of spare parts for auto warranty repairs and maintenance in Russia, and has also approved parallel imports for its authorized dealers.
This became clear during the trials of the Russian “daughter” “Toyota Motor” with the “Public Consumer Initiative” (OPI) and Rospotrebnadzor, Izvestia writes.
In the summer, the consumer association filed a lawsuit against Toyota Motor, Rospotrebnadzor joined the statement. The “daughter” was required to respect the rights of consumers and resume the supply of spare parts to Russia.
The manufacturer slowed down work in Russia in March 2022 amid sanctions and logistical problems. This was stated in a letter from the company to the partners, which he presented to the court in mid-December.
OPI President Oleg Pavlov said that the company’s actions actually confirm that the subsidiaries can guarantee the rights of consumers through direct deliveries and parallel imports. Statements of “mythical difficulties” are a deliberate violation of citizens’ rights and an attempt to evade responsibility, he added.
Chinese Hongqi, Vietnamese Vinfast and other brands may enter the Russian car market in 2023. Automakers say that at least 5-7 companies from China, Vietnam and Iran will appear in Russia.
Earlier, Russian car dealers suggested that Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin create a law on the car business. They intend to reduce the risks of the withdrawal of foreign car manufacturers from the Russian Federation.
Other proposals include modifications to the consumer protection law in terms of reducing fines or a moratorium on them in case of non-compliance with the terms of car warranty repairs, or the possibility of extending the repair period until necessary spare parts are received.
