Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 is known to have 12 cores. It is reported that the productive cores of the processor will operate at a frequency of 3.40 GHz, and energy-efficient – at a frequency of 2.50 GHz. It is not yet confirmed whether these clock speeds will remain the same when the chip is released in commercial products.
It is also reported that each quad-core cluster will have 12 MB of L2 cache. It also has 8MB shared L3 cache, 12MB system-level cache, and 4MB GPU cache. While the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips are limited to LPDDR5 RAM, the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 can support up to 64GB of LPDDR5X with the ability to run this memory at a lower frequency like 4.20 GHz. This will likely give an increase in battery life. For discrete cards, the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 will have eight PCIe 4.0 lanes, four of which are dedicated to SSDs.
