So even though the total amount of data written to the media was only a few terabytes, wear rates suddenly increased by a few percent. This directly indicates their unacceptably rapid wear.

Our colleague from Neowin encountered a similar behavior of an SSD drive.

There is currently no information on what this issue might be related to. Samsung itself did not comment.

According to some users, everything is a software bug and everything is fine at the hardware level. Others believe that the write endurance of the disks may be lower than the manufacturer claims.
