In Russia they will introduce a system that will not allow the possibility of selling expired products. The decision to conduct such an experiment was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Russia will conduct an experiment to identify expired products

System testing will take place from February 1 to August 1. In case of positive results in the future, the boxes will begin to block the sale of expired merchandise and products that have been put into circulation illegally. Russian retailers have already begun testing technology that blocks unusable goods during scanning. Its first efficiency will be checked by the Magnit retail network.

The experiment will affect dairy products, including baby food, bottled water and some low-alcohol beverages. The “Honest Signal” system will register the goods that are not allowed for sale.

Tobacco products, including chewing tobacco and snuff, will also be controlled. For the experiment, we also chose some mixes for hookahs and e-cigarettes.

“The main objective of the experiment is to develop a mechanism for exchanging information on labeled products between retail outlets and an information system for monitoring the circulation of goods subject to mandatory labeling,” explains the government website.

In the future, it is planned to equip cash registers with special software that will prevent the sale of non-compliant products.

Participation in the experiment is voluntary. The preparation, coordination and joint evaluation of the results with other departments is the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
