At the beginning of the year, we reported that the GPU crisis was close to ending. Movements in the sector, together with the fall of cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin or ethereum, have led to the suspicion that in a few months video cards will regain their official price.

If we go back to Christmas 2021, the €300 graphics were for €700, and the top of the range immediately rose from 800 euros to 1700 euros. Thus, players and professionals were left out of the game. Only by going bankrupt, one could get a decent GPU.

Luckily for everyone, the miners abandoned the ship and the water returned to its normal course. Now information from China and Taiwan (where almost all GPUs on the market are made) guarantees big discounts.

Nvidia RTX 3080 review

The latest report comes from MyDrivers, which cites industry sources in Taiwan and major Taiwanese business media. According to them, The current round of markdowns hasn’t resulted in a stock move as AMD and NVIDIA had hoped..

For this reason, it is a second round of cuts that will outweigh the price drops we’ve seen so far on current generation GPUs.. Below is the statement:

Graphics card manufacturers will begin a new wave of price cuts starting in September, mainly on NVIDIA and AMD products, and the price cuts will far exceed previous efforts.“, My Drivers.

NVIDIA and AMD have asked their partners, both board members and retailers, to clear excess GPU inventory to make room for the next generation RTX 4000 and RX 7000. NVIDIA is already working on liquidating its shares.

The situation with excess stocks is not expected to improve dramatically until 2023. taking into account the economic situation and the overall decline in demand in the PC segment.

Previous price cuts have already been seen on many models from AMD and NVIDIA, but for those who really wanted to buy a graphics card and can’t wait for the next generation, wait until September to change the GPU, it’s worth it.
