Google wants to start 2023 on the right foot, and for this reason it has decided to launch a redesign of the most used browser in the world. How do they comment from 9to5Google, this will be the first step towards a deeper change in the browser. This time, Google Chrome started small.

As soon as you open Google Chrome in its new version, you will see the first change. Mountain View has taken more care to distinguish the tab bar from the browser frame. For this, gave the latter a more bluish tintsomething that reminds us of the classic browser color years ago.

On the other hand, it has also improved the appearance of some buttons and text fields. For example, in the window that appears when you add a website to your favorites, we will now see that both the buttons, the text field, and the dropdown menu have a more rounded appearance.

But besides all this, nothing more to show, at least for now. So, it’s not about such a radical redesign of the browser, but it seems that this is the beginning of a change in the appearance of Google Chrome, which we have known for many years. In fact, at the end of 2022, they included a feature that reduces energy and memory consumption.

How to Test the Google Chrome Redesign

Of course, this change is still in development, so Google won’t let you get it right away. Nevertheless, there is a very easy way to get the new aesthetic section of google chromeand you just need to follow these simple instructions.

You will have to install google chrome canary. This is a version that will allow you to experiment with features still in development when this redesign goes live. The best part is that it installs as a standalone application. Therefore, you will not affect the standard browser option.

Once you have downloaded and installed Chrome Canary from the official Google repositories, redesign activation is the easiest part:

  1. Open Chrome Canary and enter the following address: “chrome://flags/#chrome-update-2023“. Without quotes, of course.
  2. Now a new tab will open with many options. Find Chrome Refresh 2023 and select included in the drop down menu on the right.
  3. All that remains is to restart Google Chrome Canary and enjoy all the news this redesign will bring to your trusted browser.

Other changes introduced in recent versions

The desktop version of Google Chrome isn’t the only one that has received improvements. Chrome for Android also has a new feature. It’s about the ability lock incognito windows with password. This feature has been in iOS for a long time, but Android devices have been able to take advantage of it for the first time.

If you want to try you just need to update the app from the Play Store and follow these steps:

  1. Opens Chromium on your android mobile phone.
  2. go to Parameter and subsequently Privacy & Security.
  3. active Lock tabs in incognito mode when Chrome closes.

Now every time you sign out and back in to Chrome from your Android mobile device, you will need to enter your password to unlock the tabs. As we have already told you, this process is the same on the iPhone, so if you didn’t know it, you can try it.
