Is it Dall-E? Mid-trip? Convert instructions to images? That’s nothing, Google went a little further. Big tech has created an artificial intelligence (AI). creates music of any genre from text descriptions. Unfortunately, it will not be made public.
MusicLM isn’t the first AI to produce music, as Riffusion, Dance Diffusion, AudioML, and Jukebox already exist. The difference with Google’s tool is the possibility of producing songs that are more complex and have high fidelity.
The AI was trained on data from 280,000 hours of music to learn to compose consistently on its own.. The researchers just published an academic paper on AI (you can also hear examples), explaining that MusicLM can be based on existing tunes.
When there are several explanations in sequence, the music maker creates a melodic narrative, which can be a short short story or even a song several minutes long. Instruction can still be given on a particular instrument.
But big tech, afraid of the risks, decided not to implement artificial intelligence right away. The biggest issue is ethical challenges, such as incorporating copyrighted material into AI education. About 1% of the songs were direct copies.
And there is still the quality point. MusicLM also has distorted melodies in some samples, leaving something to be desired in synthesized sounds and vocals.
