Apple’s Russian “daughter”, Apple Rus LLC, has changed its CEO since January 27, according to data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities. They became Alexander Kotilevsky, who in 2019 was appointed responsible in the company for the location of personal data of Russians.
The change of CEO is due to the company’s long-standing policy of non-compliance with the requirements of Russian legislation on the processing of personal data, which resulted in bringing Apple Rus LLC to administrative responsibility, Andrey Popelnyukh, specialist in right. Signature Intercessia, he thinks.
In July, the Tagansky District World Court fined Apple 2 million rubles for refusing to locate Russians’ data in Russia.
“The appointment as CEO of a person who previously implemented the procedure for locating personal data in the company indicates the intentions of the company that “left the Russian market” to minimize the potential risks of being held liable for similar violations in the future, which leads to the conclusion that the company will formally continue its activities in Russia. At the very least, the American brand did not refuse warranty obligations in the Russian Federation, ”Popelnyukh told RB.RU.
In addition, according to him, it can be assumed that Apple does not rule out its full return to the Russian market in the foreseeable future.
Infoline CEO Ivan Fedyakov drew attention to the reports of Apple Rus LLC for 2021. By the end of the year, the company managed to increase its revenue by 45% to 386 billion rubles, while the sales profit of the company grew by 10.6% and reached 14.4 billion rubles.
“Obviously, the company had assets in the Russian Federation, which they could not sell and it will be impossible to get them out. Therefore, I think that what remains, I want to share with someone, ”Fedyakov believes.
Apple’s global office did not respond to a request from RB.RU.
Apple in Russia is represented by Apple Rus LLC. In March, Apple halted deliveries to Russia in connection with the military operation in Ukraine. However, the equipment enters the country as part of parallel imports.
