In Russia, the popularity of micro-investments is growing against the background of increased financial education of Russians and the spread of brokerage services. RB.RU learned from Roman Chechushkov, Head of Investment Research at Renaissance Credit Bank, where to invest 5, 10 and 15 thousand rubles in 2023.

The Russians were told where to invest 5, 10, 15 thousand rubles in 2023

Microinvestment is an investment of small amounts in the financial market, within everyone’s reach, recalled the expert.

If you want to make diversified investments of 5, 10, 15 thousand rubles, then you can invest in several funds. For example, a stock exchange traded mutual fund (BPIF) for total return Moscow Stock Exchange shares, the index includes 40 stocks and depository receipts of the largest Russian companies.

According to the expert, in December 2022, the top 5 issuers (Gazprom, Lukoil, Sberbank, Norilsk Nickel, Novatek) occupied more than 50% of it. The advantages include the fact that, unlike the usual IMOEX, BPIF takes into account the reinvestment of dividend payments without tax.

There are many different mutual funds and ETFs (exchange traded funds) on the Russian market. The most important thing when investing is to trust your risk profile, emphasized Roman Chechushkov.

The analyst suggested investing in a bond-focused mutual fund, a gold mutual fund, or building a stock portfolio of several different funds. He finds mutual funds and ETFs to be excellent micro-investing tools, since it’s nearly impossible for a private investor to independently compile a similarly diversified portfolio with a small initial investment.

Also, according to Chechushkov, a small amount can be invested in bonds by creating a diversified portfolio of corporate bonds and federal loan bonds (OFZs). The face value of the bonds, as a rule, is 1 thousand rubles.
