Online ad aggregator Avito has begun testing the short video format for sellers and buyers by launching the Avito Videotape section, according to its press release.

Avito launched a short video format for sellers and buyers

The service believes that the short video format will allow shoppers to “get fully acquainted with the offer.” The videotape will be formed from the videos that users place in the ads.

The new functionality is now being tested and works on a limited number of iOS mobile devices in the “Products”, “Automatic” and “Services” sections. Eventually, the site will present a videotape to all users.

Ozon abandoned a similar service on January 27. Its Moments video service, a counterpart to the stories platform where users post content, has been running for less than a year. The reasons for this decision were not announced in the company, they only noted that instead of “Moments” they will develop live broadcasts, video reviews and video covers.

The video format previously existed on Avito – it was possible to put the video on the product card or send it to the interlocutor on the messaging platform. The release of videotape will allow merchants to record video directly in the application interface. The videos will appear in the recommendations feed on the home page.
