Students used ChatGPT to take a test on recent Japanese history, they had to take a multiple choice test. The exam was done remotely.

Teachers noticed that many students gave very similar answers with the same logic and context. This helped detect fraud.

All students must now retake the exam in person, for each an individual decision will be made based on the particular fraud case, in accordance with French law.

“This is the first case at the University of Strasbourg, we have no other cases to date,” the university spokesperson said.
