Starta has expanded its activities through educational products: from 2023, the venture group will work under the brand of the Starta Institute and will focus on training people who want to enter the technology industry, make a career or launch their own start-up company, co-founder of Starta Alexei Girin told RB.RU.

At the same time, investment activity will also continue.

Starta Venture Group will begin operating under the Starta Institute brand from 2023

“Over the past two years, Starta’s focus has shifted to educational products and from 2023 the group will operate under the Starta Institute brand. This is not a pivot or spin-off. In fact, from the early days we educate people, help build and develop technology businesses. Our products and business model were born from many years of observing startups. We perfectly understand their pains, we see the shortage of personnel and the need for education,” Girin said.

Starta Institute is a hybrid educational program for people looking to enter the technology industry, pursue a career or start their own startup, the Starta co-founder explained. Education is carried out in two faculties: Engineering and the Faculty of Management and Entrepreneurship.

“A feature of the institute are the campuses, which open up the possibility of building community, developing interdisciplinary connections and networks. The first two campuses operate in Berlin and New York. Plans for 2023 include sales development in Colombia, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates,” Girin said.

According to him, more than 1,000 students from Germany, Poland, Latin America and the Middle East have already participated in the programs of the Starta Institute. In 2022, the project showed a 4-fold increase in revenue compared to 2021, reaching $6.1 million.

The Starta group has existed since 2011. Initially, the company focused on venture investments (Starta Capital funds) and educational programs for startups (Starta Accelerator). The group manages more than $50 million and has a portfolio of 220 early-stage companies.

According to Girin, the group’s investment activities will continue, but will focus on financing graduates of the Starta Institute.
