The number of Internet buyers of goods among Russians has almost doubled in five years, an annual study by Yandex.Market and GfK Rus has shown.

More than half of Russians buy clothes and shoes online: survey

Today, about 60% of urban residents aged 16-55 make purchases over the Internet at least twice a year. Of these, approximately 85% order products online at least once a month.

Among the reasons why Russians choose to shop online, they cited the ability to compare prices on different sites, as well as the convenience of receiving an order. Some study participants noted that the Internet, as a rule, has a wider range of products.

In most cases, Russians order clothes and shoes: 65% of respondents make this type of purchase at least once a year. About the same number (64%) ask for hygiene products. In third place are food products, they are purchased over the Internet by 55% of those surveyed.

Regarding the ordering method, 67% use smartphones and tablets for this purpose. At the same time, purchases are made through mobile apps four times more often than through store websites.

The vast majority of survey participants prefer automatic delivery of an order from a collection point or post office: 76%. Only 12% of those surveyed use messaging services.

The study was conducted in 2022 using an online survey among 4,200 online shoppers aged 16-55 living in Russian cities.

The popularity of online services among Russians is growing not only in the field of trade. According to a study by Rosgosstrakh and Rosgosstrakh Life, more than a third of citizens monitor their health through various mobile services. And every Russian quarter makes an appointment with a doctor through the application.
