A team of scientists led by Shinya Hayasaki, dean and professor of the Faculty of Humanities at Tokyo City University, followed 14,000 elderly people for three years. Participants were 65 years or older.
It turned out that the elderly who bathed every day needed 29% less health care than those who bathed less than twice a week.
According to the results of a study in which approximately 30,000 people aged 40-50 participated, taking a bath every day reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.
Bathing has three effects on the body. It is floating, thermal and hydraulic. The most important of these is thermal. With the expansion of blood vessels, blood flow improves, metabolism accelerates and fatigue decreases. As a result, the load on the heart decreases and blood pressure drops.
The best way to take a bath is as follows. You need to wash for 10 minutes in water with a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. However, if you are only half-immersed in the water, the time spent in it increases to 20 minutes.
