60% of IT specialists who left returned to Russia – Volodin

More than half of the IT specialists who previously left Russia have returned to the country, Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of the lower house of parliament, told a plenary session of the State Duma. A recording of his speech was published in the Duma TV group on the VKontakte social network.

Volodin also noted that the IT specialists who returned to Russia are again working at the same companies where they worked before leaving the country.

The Chairman of the State Duma called for the creation of conditions in Russia for IT people to remain in the country. To do this, you need to “start from school”, develop IT areas and finance them, Volodin believes.

In December 2022, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev estimated the number of IT specialists who left Russia at 100 thousand people, which is 10% of their total number. Shadayev noted that 80% of IT people continued to work for Russian companies, while they were not in Russia.
