The largest American pharmaceutical company, Viatris, has announced that it will stop supplying Viagra to Russia. Interfax writes about this with reference to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
The department told the agency that the production of sildenafil (the international common name for the drug) in the Russian Federation is not localized. And the American company announced the suspension of supplies in 2022.
At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasizes that there are all possibilities to create drugs with the same active substance in the Russian Federation.
According to the results of the first three quarters of last year, the total volume of production of this type of medicine in the country increased by 11% in physical terms. And sales increased by 15%.
Today, 36 Russian companies have 49 registration certificates for the drug, according to the state register of medicines.
