Almost three-quarters of Russians are used to leaving tips in restaurants and cafes, a study by the SuperJob service has shown.
72% of Russians leave a small amount of appreciation for the service to the waiters. A third of them do it every time they visit the establishment. Another 39% provide tips from time to time.
According to the survey, 51% of respondents tip taxi drivers. Of these, only 12% do so after each trip and 39% only occasionally.
Also, Russians are used to thanking delivery guys with money. 44% of respondents leave tips for couriers, 11% of them – every time, another 33% – from time to time. Employees of beauty salons can also count on a remuneration, 39% of visitors to such establishments leave a small amount on top of the check.
One in three people leaves a tip at gas stations and car washes (11% – always, 22% – sometimes). Less still, “tips” are given to hotel employees: this is what 30% of those surveyed do.
At the same time, it is the employees of the hotel sector who receive the largest tips, on average they amount to 400 rubles. Waiters receive 275 rubles from the table, and beauty salon masters – 215. The average tip for a courier is 120 rubles, for a taxi driver – 115, for a car wash or gas station employee – 75 rubles.
