It is known that a person has ultrafast muscles in his eyes. There they control the rapid movement of the eyeball. In the new study, the authors used imaging technology to examine mouse paw muscles.
Imaging showed several metabolic signatures. These are groups of biochemicals formed during cellular metabolism and found only in ultrafast muscles. Based on the results, the scientists hypothesized that repeated stimulation of the nerves in the mouse’s paws could eventually build superfast muscles.
