The Association of Banks of Russia intends to ask Roskomnadzor (RNA) not to limit customer service through the Telegram messenger. This was said by the vice president of the organization Alexei Voylukov.

Russian banks will oppose the ban on the provision of services through Telegram

According to him, the use of Telegram helped to solve the problems associated with the blocking of banking applications due to sanctions. Voluykov claims that the platform is safe for operations, since it acts only as an interface.

Earlier, the RNC pointed out that with the entry into force of the reforms to the “Information” law, restrictions will be applied to Telegram. The changes will take effect on March 1. According to the law, the interaction of banks with clients through foreign platforms is prohibited.

Mintsifra also considered that this service method was not the most secure. The director of the Department of Cyber Security, Vladimir Bengin, noted that the use of the messenger increases the risk of fraud. However, according to the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, this problem can be solved by introducing anti-fraud mechanisms.

In January, an online bank on Telegram launched VTB, the service is based on a chat bot. Likewise, the creation of a similar service in Alfa-Bank was reported. Also, at the end of 2021, MTS Bank launched the MTS Bank Now chat bot in various messengers.
