Sergei Bendin, acting head of the Moscow branch of the Aviation Commission of the Russian Geographical Society, in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets, said that the Russian army should use balloons and airships in a special military operation zone.

The expert suggests that powerful electronic warfare systems can be placed on such devices that will suppress enemy communications and data transmission channels. Bendin emphasized that airships equipped with electronic warfare systems can provide protection in battle against remotely-controlled enemy drones, creating devastating radio interference and even taking control.

According to the expert, airships with radar located at a distance of 10-20 kilometers from the front can provide the distribution of the local Internet for communication and data exchange, detecting approaching targets in an area of tens of square kilometers.

The expert notes that such devices will be difficult to hit: for standard air defense systems in service, they are mostly radio-permeable, and their size does not allow them to be immediately disabled.
