Samsung has announced a new update for its Bixby digital assistant. promises new features and improvements in both performance and usability. The idea is to provide more options for customizing and interacting with the app on compatible Galaxy devices.
One of the main innovations Bixby Text Search, feature that converts a text to a voice message. The functionality was only available in Korean, and now it’s English, allowing you to automatically answer calls with a customized text.
Meanwhile, in South Korea, Bixby is getting an even more advanced feature: Custom Sound Creator. Possible Record different phrases for the digital assistant to emulate the user’s voice when using Bixby Text Search.
Thanks to Bixby’s ability to recognize more “scenes,” people in Samsung’s home country are also getting more news. This allows the assistant to better understand contexts, so the user can, for example, say “play music for my workouts” in Korean and play an AI-related playlist.
More offline commands
The update also introduces more possibilities for using Bixby offline. Simple commands like turning on the flashlight, taking a screenshot or setting a timer can be done on compatible devices completely without an internet connection.
Support for using AI offline directly on the device is available in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German and Korean, and Portuguese is still out.
The latest Bixby update is already rolling out in waves to devices that support the assistant.
