The HiRise team at the University of Arizona has reportedly released three photos of Zhurong taken between March 11, 2022 and February 7, 2023. And in the last two photos the rover is in the same place.
According to experts, this may indicate its inoperability. At the same time, the China National Space Administration did not provide any updates on the rover’s status.
Recall that Zhurong arrived on Mars in May 2021 as part of the Chinese mission Tianwen-1. The rover was expected to operate for three months, but its service life exceeded the original. He completed his main tasks, which included studying the composition and topography of Martian soil, as well as searching for signs of water and ice.
