Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has taken a step towards mass cryptocurrency adoption by partnering with popular European contactless payment terminal operator Ingenico. Some stores in Paris now accept payments through the Binance app.
Starting February 22, kiosks compatible with the Binance app will begin to appear in stores and establishments in France. The Miss Opéra boutique and the Le Carlie bar located in Paris were the first to participate in the project, according to the French newspaper LesEchos.
To start accepting crypto payments through the Ingenico terminal, the seller needs to sign up to the Binance app and select one of the offered coins. Payment is currently available in USDT and BUSD stablecoins. To complete a transaction, a QR code must be generated, which the buyer will scan through the Binance app.
Ingenico Group manufactures more than 7 million POS terminals a year, making the company one of the world’s largest providers of payment acceptance equipment. Binance’s collaboration with Ingenico opens up a wide range of opportunities for the introduction of payment for purchases with cryptocurrencies in other European countries.
