ChatGPT demonstrated its ability to answer multiple choice questions about law and Sufficient points to be approved in the first phase of the review by the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB)in a test conducted by Daniel Marques, a lawyer and president of the Brazilian Association of Lawtechs and Legaltechs (AB2L).

Marques’ experiment aims to demonstrate the impact of artificial intelligence on the legal world, such as the chatbot developed by the American startup OpenAI. There are already examples of artificial intelligence (AI) being used in law in different countries for drafting contracts and even court orders.

in an interview with EstadaoThe AB2L head claims that AI can help lawyers expand their cognitive capabilities and increase efficiency in writing defenses and investigating cases, but emphasizes that the ultimate responsibility still rests with humans and the tool should be used by lawyers who can use it.

“ChatGPT will not replace lawyers. They will be replaced by lawyers who can use the tool. The tool increases the cognitive possibilities of lawyers”, says Marques.

Babies outperform AI

Despite the recent wave of AI usage powered by ChatGPT, the technology still has its limitations. New York University research found that babies outperform AI at detecting what motivates other people’s actions.

The researchers used an artificial intelligence model to predict what 10-month-old babies would expect to see in a series of videos showing humans performing various actions. While babies can understand that actions are motivated by a purpose, artificial intelligence has not been able to make this distinction correctly.

The results show that babies have an intuitive and sophisticated understanding of social causation, which can be difficult to replicate in machines. The study’s authors claim that this ability is fundamental to the development of social cognition and may be the basis for more complex social skills in adult life.
