Chip maker Micron was sued by Bell Semiconductor for using a proprietary chip development process. It would be a technique that makes it possible to develop smaller and faster chips.

Bell Semiconductor manages patents arising from the invention of the transistor by Bell Labs in 1947. Bell Labs, now owned by Nokia, has a long history of inventions that also had a significant impact on the computer world. For example, the first 32-bit CPU was developed at Bell Labs alongside the Unix operating system and the C programming language.

Bell Semiconductor wants Micron to stop using their techniques and be compensated financially. Micron has not yet issued a response.
