HMD Global, owner of the Nokia brand, announced the new inexpensive Nokia C22 and C32 handsets this Saturday (25) at MWC 2023. With a basic technical chart but with enhanced software experiences, the mobile phones have a suggested price of 109 euros (approximately R$ 600) and 129 euros (approximately R$ 700).

There are design changes on both devices. The Nokia C22, for example, has a textured plastic back cover and the camera module now follows the overall color of the phone. In addition to a metal build, the Nokia C32 now has a mirrored glass finish – also available on the C22.

HMD reports that the entry-level C22 was developed “based on feedback from our users and the press.” The company also promises longer durability to the device, which is IP52 certified against splashing water.

The smartphone, offered in black and sand color options, has a 6.5-inch HD + resolution screen, 13 MP main camera and 2 MP secondary camera (macro), in addition to an 8 MP resolution front sensor. It brings features such as portrait and night photography modes that the brand claims has been improved.

Other features of the C22 include the Unisoc 9863A1 chipset, 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage (with a microSD card slot up to 256GB). There is also a fingerprint reader on the back of the smartphone.

For this model, the brand is running Android 13 (Go Edition), a lighter version of the operating system (OS). That said, there will be two years of monthly security updates, but no Android upgrades.

With the promise of up to three days of use, the C22 and C32 batteries have a capacity of 5,000 mAh and both models have a 10W charger (USB-C). It is worth considering that both models also have 3.5 mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.2 and FM radio support.

Now the “most powerful” model in the C series, the Nokia C32 brings straight lines on the sides and a slightly more sophisticated design than the C22. It’s available in black, green, and pink, and the display has the same features as the most basic version; both have wider edges and a “falling” cutout for the selfie camera.

On the other hand, in the C32, consumers find a 50 MP main camera and a 2 MP macro sensor. It has 8 MP on the front as well. One difference, however, is that this model has the “regular” version of Android 13 and combines 3GB or 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage (plus a microSD card slot for up to 256GB).

It is worth noting that both devices are compatible with 4G networks, and in the C32 HMD repeats the Unisoc 9863A1 chipset found in the most basic model.
