Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 7 and 8.1 in 2020 and 2023, respectively. According to Izvestia, these OS versions are still installed on about 20% of Russian computers. And that’s tens of millions of computers.
Microsoft has dropped browser support for Google, Mozilla, Opera, Windows 7 and 8.1. Experts say that this is why some sites will either stop opening or not work properly. There are also risks of personal data leakage, for example, if the user follows a phishing link. In the future, developers can often release an update that will ban the use of older browsers.
The problem can be fixed by installing the latest versions of Windows, but in Russia this can be problematic.
