The authors of a new scientific study analyzed data from an atherosclerosis study involving 6.8 thousand American adults ages 45 to 84. Researchers compared survival rates for 4.7 years in 94 people diagnosed with heart failure.
It turns out that men with heart failure who have never been married are twice as likely to die within five years of being diagnosed. This can be influenced by factors such as isolation and lack of communication with others, non-compliance with treatment and prescribed diet, low levels of care and physical activity, as well as alcohol use and reluctance to go to the doctor.
